“Peloncito” case, child dead in Kanasín: mother and her partner, in preventive detention

Vilma Concepción MY, 35 years old, and her partner Liliana Elizabeth HG, 29 years old, will remain in preventive detention during the proceedings against them for the death of the child Johan, “Peloncito” , which occurred in the Cielo Alto subdivision, in Kanasín.
The case of “Peloncito” shocked not only Kanasín but all of Yucatán, since the little boy, 7 years and 10 months old, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 due to severe malnutrition .
It was then revealed that the minor had a life of abandonment, violence and a difficult family environment, as his mother, Vilma Concepción, was a drug user.
In fact, it was revealed that the minor was beaten when his mother took drugs and went without food for long periods of time , hence the malnutrition that led to his death.
This Tuesday, February 25, the State Attorney General's Office issued a bulletin reporting that, due to its alleged responsibility in the death of a minor in the Cielo Alto subdivision of Kanasín, VCMT was linked to the process for the crime of homicide due to kinship.
LEHG was also charged with the crime of qualified homicide , which is why both will remain under the precautionary measure of official preventive detention.
The FGE pointed out that it provided sufficient data and evidence for both women to be brought to trial for their alleged responsibility in the death of the minor that occurred a few days ago.
Once the legal situation of both defendants was resolved, the Second District Control Judge granted a period of four months for the closing of the complementary investigation , time that the parties will have to continue with the inquiry.
During the initial hearing, it was established that, according to the information gathered in criminal case 37/2025, both defendants would be allegedly responsible for the death of the minor aged 7 years and 10 months , who died due to severe malnutrition, as determined by an expert from the Forensic Medical Service of the FGE.
It was established that the minor suffered from violence at home , in addition to multiple omissions and neglect in his diet and general health, which led to the severe malnutrition that ultimately caused his death.
